Säker Digital Arkivering

As businesses move to generating more documents in purely digital form there is a need for providing digital archiving solutions to complement traditional paper archives. This thesis describes the investigation into the viability of a secure digital archive. Issues treated include, long-term data storage, secure transfers over a public network and an overview of current archiving laws. A prototype is implemented and evaluated to demonstrate the functionalities of a digital archive, together with proposals for future additions and improvements. I want to thank my supervisor and examiner Professor Johan Håstad for his support, Bosse Persson at Västgöta Företagsarkiv AB for giving me the opportunity to work on this project, and Alice Carrillo. This thesis explores topics including current archiving and cryptography laws and discussions of computer processing power and storage capacity, which were up to date in the fall/winter of 2003/2004.
